JEE Main (Joint Entrance Examination Main) is a national-level entrance examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in India. It is a gateway for admission to undergraduate programs in engineering, architecture, and planning at institutions like the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs). Additionally, it serves as the eligibility test for JEE Advanced, which is required for admission to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). The examination is scheduled for January and April 2025, emphasizing the importance of a thorough understanding of the eligibility criteria outlined in the JEE Main information bulletin. Candidates can study from NCERT books of class 11 and 12 Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics to cover the JEE Mains syllabus. No changes have been made to JEE Main Syllabus 2025.  NTA removed several topics of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics last year from the JEE Main syllabus. 

JEE Main 2025 exam will be conducted for three courses, Paper 1 for BE/BTech, Paper 2A for BArch, and Paper 2B for BPlan. Exam Dates:

Session 1:

Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech): January 22, 23, 24, 28, and 29, 2025.

Paper 2 (B.Arch/B.Plan): January 30, 2025.

Session 2:

Scheduled from April 1 to 8, 2025.

Admit Card:

The admit cards for Session 1 are expected to be released on January 19, 2025. Candidates can download them from the official website using their application number and password.

Exam Pattern:

Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech):

Subjects: Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.

Type: Computer-Based Test (CBT).

Duration: 3 hours.

Question Format:

Section A: 20 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) per subject.

Section B: 5 Numerical Value Questions per subject (mandatory).

Marking Scheme:

Correct Answer: +4 marks.

Incorrect Answer: -1 mark.

Unanswered: 0 marks.

Paper 2A (B.Arch):

Subjects: Mathematics, Aptitude, and Drawing.

Type: CBT for Mathematics and Aptitude; Drawing test on paper.

Duration: 3 hours.

Question Format:

Mathematics: 25 questions (20 MCQs + 5 Numerical Value Questions).

Aptitude: 50 MCQs.

Drawing: 2 questions.

Marking Scheme:

Mathematics & Aptitude:

Correct Answer: +4 marks.

Incorrect Answer: -1 mark.

Drawing: Evaluated out of 100 marks.

Paper 2B (B.Planning):

Subjects: Mathematics, Aptitude, and Planning.

Type: CBT.

Duration: 3 hours.

Question Format:

Mathematics: 25 questions (20 MCQs + 5 Numerical Value Questions).

Aptitude: 50 MCQs.

Planning: 25 MCQs.

Marking Scheme:

Correct Answer: +4 marks.

Incorrect Answer: -1 mark.

Syllabus:

The syllabus covers topics from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics based on the NCERT curriculum. Notably, certain topics have been removed from the Physics syllabus, including scalars & vectors, vector addition & subtraction, scalar & vector products, unit vectors, and resolution of vectors.

Marks Eligibility Criteria:

In terms of marks eligibility, candidates falling under the general category must secure a minimum of 75% in their Class 12 board exams or rank among the top 20 percentile in their qualifying examination to meet the minimum marks to qualify JEE Mains 2025. This criterion is essential for admission to IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other CFTIs.

Subject Requirements in Class 12 for JEE Main Eligibility:

The JEE Main 2025 is designed for three distinct courses - B.Tech, B.Arch, and B.Plan - each with specific subject requirements.

For JEE Main 2025 Paper 1 (B.Tech.):

Candidates must have Physics and Mathematics as mandatory subjects, along with one additional subject from Chemistry, Biology, or a Technical Vocational Subject.

For JEE Main 2025 Paper 2A (B.Arch.):

Successful completion of Class 12 or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics is a prerequisite.

For JEE Main 2025 Paper 2B (B.Plan.):

Candidates are required to have Mathematics as a subject in their Class 12 or equivalent examination.

Application Process:

The registration for Session 1 was open from October 28 to November 22, 2024. The correction window was available on November 26 and 27, 2024. Registration dates for Session 2 are expected to be announced in due course.

Eligibility Criteria for Appearing in JEE Advanced through JEE Main:

JEE Main Participation:

Candidates must have participated in JEE Main and attained the minimum cutoff marks set by NTA.

Top 2,50,000 Rank:

As per the Common Rank List, candidates need to secure a position in the top 2, 50,000 ranks for eligibility in JEE Advanced Exam 2025.

Attempt Limit:

Candidates are permitted to appear in JEE Advanced twice, consecutively in the two years following the year of passing the class 12 or equivalent examination.
